Take back control of your life!
Stop Allowing the Hurt to Be in Charge
The Healing You’ve Been Looking For – Queens and Eastern Long Island
Mental and physical pain are all-consuming feelings.
“I’m in pain,” Mary* moaned, as she began to tell her story. “I’m not in control of my own life.”
Pain comes in many forms and has the potential to overwhelm and dominate how a person lives his or her life. Emotional, physical, relationship issues, insomnia, adjusting and more – all of these pains are an abomination that leaves everyone worse off for it.
We cannot tolerate pain or allow it to rule.
“It’s as if it takes on a life of its own,” she continued.
This is a phrase we hear quite often.
Which pain does Mary suffer from?
Emotional distress
Maybe Mary is deeply sad, having difficulty concentrating and has lost interest in doing most things.
It is possible that Mary has just had a drastic life change, such as the loss of someone close to her, moving, retirement, or loss of a physical ability.
Possibly Mary is feeling anxious. Perhaps she feels helpless. Hopeless. Worthless.
Mary’s work or school situation might be very stressful.
Or, maybe she is in a troubled relationship.
Physical Agony
Mary could also be suffering from physical pains – possibly in her back, hands, legs or head. She could have suffered an injury and still feels the pain even though the visible wound has healed.
Maybe Mary experiences pain even though her physicians can’t figure out why she is suffering.
The Chronic Pain Triad
Chronic pain is REAL pain.
Dr. Robert Meyers, founder and director of New York Psychological Wellness (NYPW), is the creator of the Chronic Pain Triad theory for the psychological treatment of chronic pain. This theory includes utilizing psychological expertise in treating emotional pains and sleep issues.
That is why NYPW is so effective in helping you take back control of your life from so many related issues.
Pain Is in the Brain
Whether emotional or physical, pain resides in the brain.
We could talk about the biological, physiological, social and psychological aspects of these pains – and we will when you come in for therapy with us!
That is because all of these elements contribute to both emotional and physical pains.
We examine all aspects of your situation to determine what is causing your suffering and then create your individualized treatment plan to make your therapy effective and allow you to…
Take back control of your life!

Hi. I’m Dr. Robert Meyers
Founder and director of New York Psychological Wellness.
Your experience at NYPW will include working in a friendly and accepting environment. But that doesn’t mean this will be an easy process.
For us to help you make the changes you need in order to take back control of your life, you will need to be committed to accepting the challenges presented to you, working on assignments, and regularly attend ing sessions.
When working with each individual, my program at NYPW takes a comprehensive and pragmatic approach with each individual with whom we work, exploring the medical, social, and physiological as well as the psychological causes of the problem.
It is understood that whether we are dealing with depression, anxiety, adjusting to change, insomnia, chronic pain, or any other issue, there are multiple factors contributing to it. Together, we will explore each of these elements and look for ways to resolve or reduce your issues.
I look forward to welcoming you on your journey toward taking back control of your life.
