Chronic Pain

Judy’s* world

Judy, an attractive, successful, middle-aged business professional, struggled constantly with neck and lower back pain – and a growing dependence on Oxy.

Day after day. Hour after hour.

Work had become nearly intolerable. So did even the simplest of things at home.

She had trouble getting through the day, but the nights were even worse. She couldn’t remember the last time she had an entire night of comfortable, uninterrupted sleep.

Irritable, depressed, and frustrated, she’d seen a litany of physicians – primary care, orthopedists, neurologists, rheumatologists, physiatrists – as well as physical therapists, chiropractors, spiritual healers, and others.

Though a candidate for back surgery to alleviate some of the pain, her surgeon had borne the disappointing news that, even with the invasive and risky process, there was still better than a 50% chance that she would see no change in her condition.

During her initial assessment session, I introduced Judy to both a sleep and pain log. Together, we began her journey back toward a safe and productive life.

Using the data gathered in her logs, we were able to put together a treatment plan that allowed her to stop using the Oxy and begin living again.

Chronic pain is real pain.

If you’re experiencing it, you know.

It can affect every aspect of your life.

But sometimes the cause of chronic pain is elusive and cannot be treated medically. The mechanisms of pain are complex and not always manageable through medicines or surgical procedures.

In fact, pain relievers have a very limited effective range – usually at a decreasing rate.

Just like Judy, many people appear at our offices as a last resort because no one else has been able to help, or, even worse, their physicians have thought they were either “faking” or “crazy.”

Treatment with a difference

That won’t happen to you here.

My Chronic Pain Triad theory focuses on the physiological and psychological reality that “pain is in the brain.”

Using my methods of treatment, many people, like Judy, have been able to enjoy a full and productive life.
